Privacy Policy

1. Who This Policy Applies To

This Privacy Policy describes how PawMD ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the PawMD Service. By using PawMD, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information Stored on Your Device

The following data is stored in your browser's local storage. It does not reach our servers unless you explicitly opt in to helping improve PawMD (see section 5):

Because this data lives in your browser, it is not accessible across devices and is not backed up. If you clear your browser's local storage or switch devices, this data is gone.

3. Information Sent to Third Parties

Anthropic (AI responses)

When you have a triage conversation with PawMD, the content of that conversation — including any symptoms you describe and your dog's profile information — is transmitted to Anthropic, Inc. via their API in order to generate AI responses. Anthropic processes this data in accordance with their own Privacy Policy. We do not store this conversation data on our own servers. By using PawMD, you acknowledge and consent to your conversation content being processed by Anthropic.

Resend (email receipts)

If you request an email receipt of your triage result, your email address and a summary of your result are transmitted to Resend, Inc. to deliver that email. Resend processes this in accordance with their own Privacy Policy. We do not retain your email address on our servers beyond the delivery of that email.

4. Information We Do Not Collect

• We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels
• We do not build behavioral profiles or sell data to advertisers
• We do not require account creation and therefore hold no account credentials
• We do not collect payment information — PawMD is free during beta

5. Sync Codes (Optional)

Because your dog's profile is stored in your browser, it doesn't automatically appear on your other devices. If you want it to, you can request a sync code — a short code like PAW-4K9T-M2XB.

When you request one, we store the following on our servers so they can be retrieved with that code:

• Your dog's profile — name, breed, age, weight, sex, and any conditions you entered
• Your triage history — including the conversations from past sessions and the recommendations PawMD gave

We do not store your email address as part of sync.

This is worth being clear about: creating a sync code means your triage conversations are saved on our servers, where they otherwise would not be. That's what makes your history appear on your other devices. If you'd rather keep everything on one device, simply don't create a code — every other part of PawMD works exactly the same.

This only happens if you ask for a code. If you never request one, your profile never leaves your device.

Anyone who has your code can retrieve that profile, so treat it like a password and don't post it publicly. If you'd like a synced profile deleted, email us at hello@pawmd.app with the code.

6. Helping Improve PawMD (Optional)

At the end of a triage you'll see a checkbox asking whether we can store what you described. It is unchecked by default and nothing is stored unless you check it. Your result and every other feature work exactly the same either way.

If you do opt in, we store on our servers:

• The messages you wrote describing the symptoms
• Your dog's breed, age, weight, sex, and any conditions you entered
• The recommendation PawMD gave (GO NOW / Monitor / Fine) and its one-line summary

We deliberately do not store your dog's name, your email address, or any photos you uploaded.

The reason we ask: when you later tell us what actually happened, we can compare it against what PawMD recommended. If PawMD told someone to monitor and their dog turned out to need emergency care, we need to see what was described in order to fix it. Without that, we know only that we were wrong — not why.

This data is reviewed by us to improve PawMD's guidance. It is not sold, not shared with advertisers, and not used to identify you.

7. Anonymous Visitor ID

To understand how many people use PawMD and whether they come back, we generate a random identifier the first time you visit — for example v_m2k4x9_a7f3d1 — and store it in your browser. This ID contains no personal information, is not derived from anything about you or your device, and cannot be used to identify you. It is never sold or shared with third parties.

You can remove it at any time by clearing your browser's local storage, and a new random ID will be generated on your next visit.

8. Analytics

PawMD collects anonymous usage events on our own servers — for example, which pages are visited, how many triages are completed, and what triage outcomes are reached. These events are not linked to any individual, do not include conversation content, and are used only to understand how the product is being used and to improve it over time.

We do not use any third-party analytics service (such as Google Analytics), advertising cookies, or tracking pixels. No personally identifiable information is included in these events.

9. Children's Privacy

PawMD is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

10. Data Security

Because the majority of your data lives in your own browser, you are largely in control of its security. For the limited data we transmit (conversation content to Anthropic, email to Resend), we rely on the security practices of those providers and use encrypted HTTPS connections.

11. Your Choices

• Delete your dog profile: Go to your dog profile page and clear all fields, or clear your browser's local storage
• Delete session history: Use the "Clear all" option in the History page, or clear your browser's local storage
• Opt out of email receipts: Simply don't request them — no email is collected unless you explicitly enter it

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as PawMD grows and as new features are added. The "Last updated" date at the top will always reflect the most recent revision. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
